Data Sharing and Reproducibility
Because research in educational settings often involves identifiable learning data, IJPE adopts a privacy-first data sharing policy consistent with FERPA, IRB requirements, and COPE principles.
IJPE authors must:
- Protect student privacy above all other considerations
- Provide detailed descriptions of data, methods, instruments, and analysis sufficient for replication
- Share de-identified or masked datasets whenever ethically permissible
- When raw data cannot be shared:
- Provide instruments, codebooks, scoring rubrics
- Provide a synthetic or partial dataset when practical
- Provide analysis code or workflows
Data Availability Statement (DAS)
Every article must contain a clear DAS that states one of the following:
- Data are publicly available (with link)
- Data are available under controlled access (explain process)
- Data are available from the author on reasonable request (with justification)
- Data cannot be shared for ethical/legal reasons (must include an explanation)
