Copyright Retention (Author Focus)

The IJPE operates under a model that prioritizes the dissemination of educational and research content. Authors retain the copyright to their work published in IJPE. This allows authors maximum flexibility in using their own material for teaching, research, and self-archiving.

Open Access Licensing (Reader Focus)

All articles published in IJPE are immediately and permanently available free of charge under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.

This license permits anyone to:

  • Share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format).
  • Adapt (remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose).

Any derivative or non-derivative work must be attributed to the author and to the International Journal of Process Education. Any of these conditions can be waived with permission from the copyright holder, including the right to modification or commercial distribution. These conditions do not negate or supersede Fair Use laws in any country.

Publisher Rights

Authors grant the IJPE a non-exclusive license to publish, archive, and disseminate the work, and to act as the original publisher and long-term curator of the final published version.

Authorship and Accountability
Authorship Definition

Authorship credit must be based on substantial contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported research in line with the IJPE policies on authorship and contributorship. All listed authors must have approved the final version and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

Generative AI and LLMs
  • AI Cannot Be an Author: Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or similar technologies cannot be listed as authors as they cannot take legal or ethical responsibility for the content
  • Disclosure Requirement: Authors must provide a clear and detailed disclosure in the Acknowledgements section if they have used AI tools for generating text, figures, or analyzing data. This disclosure must specify the tool used, the version, and the extent of the assistance.
Prior Publication and Third-Party Material
Prior Publication and Preprints

The IJPE permits the submission of manuscripts that have been previously posted as preprints (non-peer-reviewed versions) on academic servers (e.g., PsyArXiv, ED-ARCHIVE). Authors must:

  1. Disclose the preprint link and server name upon submission.
  2. Agree to update the preprint record with the full citation for the final published IJPE article.
Use of Third-Party IP

Authors are responsible for obtaining written permission from the respective copyright holders for any figures, tables, images, or extensive text excerpts previously published elsewhere. Proof of this permission must be provided at the time of submission. If any third-party material is used, the authors must ensure the required permission aligns with the CC BY license of the IJPE.
